Half Marathon Race Day Playlist

January 16, 2014

My road trip to Amelia Island to run the ZOOMA Florida half marathon on Saturday has officially begun. No race day would be complete for me without a great playlist. Thanks to a ton of great suggestions from all of you and a few of my favorite tunes mixed in, here is my race day playlist. I’m hoping these songs will help motivate me to reach my big goal this weekend. Good luck to everyone running and racing this weekend. Dream big, work hard and believe in yourself. Here we go!

Are there any other songs you think I need to add to my playlist? Do you run with music?

You forgot ‘The Animal’ by Disturbed. My favorite song ever.

Great list! I have never ran a race while listening to music, but I ALWAYS listen to music when training. Have you ran a marathon or half without music? Which do you prefer and why?

Hi Kristen! I almost always listen to music while running. The only races I don’t run with music are triathlons because music is prohibited … so I’ve run 2 half marathons in half Ironman races without music. I prefer music because when it gets really hard, at least the music gives me something to focus on vs. just the feelings of pain and doubt in my mind. It also makes me happy. I find that anything that can keep you motivated and happy during a hard run is worth it.

Well those all look super fun! I really like Ready to Go by John Legend feat. Andre 3000. It’s a good one to spin to as well. Otherwise that list is straight jammin’. Good luck this weekend and have a blast!

Awesome. I’ll make a last-minute download add-on. Wish you were going to be here with us! xo

Great list! I made a list and actually listened to it the other day! I like rock and alternative! I typically do not listen to music while training but in the race I like to start it about half way through. Gives me something to look forward to!! 🙂

You have some good ones here! I may take a few of your ideas…Stronger by Kanye always gets me going! I train with music when I can, but like you mentioned, can’t race tris with it and that’s what I race. In training I run and swim (waterproof ipod), but only use music on the bike when I am on the trainer. Best of luck on your race!!
