Chasing Mountains

August 24, 2017

There are some experiences that are nearly impossible to recapture in words. The past two weeks have been one of those experiences for me. I’ve thought a lot about how to share the moments, hikes, runs and photos from my great west adventure in Grand Teton, Yellowstone and Glacier National Parks with my family. I’m still searching for the words to describe it all.

In the coming days, I’ll share the stories with you. The views that took my breath away. Baby rUnladylike’s smiles as she stared in wonderment at everything around her. The simplicity of days without phones, computers or TVs. The stars. The sunrises. The peaks that represent much more than physical mountaintops.

But today, the only fitting words are those from the Sound of Music’s “Climb Ev’ry Mountain” … and some of my favorite moments of a girl and her mom chasing mountains.

“Climb every mountain,
Search high and low,
Follow every byway,
Every path you know.

Climb every mountain,
Ford every stream,
Follow every rainbow,
‘Till you find your dream.

A dream that will need
All the love you can give,
Every day of your life
For as long as you live.”
